I have also learnt how to develop their features. There has been a diversity of skills that I gained. I am now able to understand tools used in Photoshop such as the lasso/crop tool. Being able to use this device I feel confident and able to do this again if the task were to come along.
I have learnt various things to catch the eye. That a special font and number of the writing can change the aspect of the magazine completely.
Guaranteeing Passions cover, contents page and double page spread look professional was necessary. To make it look professional I did research into different front cover and content pages to see the outcome to their specific page. Gaining that knowledge I was then able to work on my preliminary task to improve it further. I was able to find out that a variety of magazines use logos and a tagline ; so from this I added it in. I also changed the image for the front cover as I didn't think it would catch attention. I then used an image of a close up girl which stood out.
While I was doing research into different front covers, contents pages and double page spreads I was able to gain motivation and get a more positive attitude. Compared to the final task the preliminary version was far less professional. The image I used wasn't very strong where as my final magazine image looks very strong. The masthead also didn't look eye catching.
The preliminary contents page was worse than my front cover. I didn't use professional techniques, it looks very amateur and plain; as if it was made in 15 minutes. The font I used was plain which wouldn't stand out to the public.
One of the similarities between the preliminary cover and final task is the price, issue number, barcode and date. The masthead was placed at the top of the page, where as the price and barcode where at the bottom left hand corner. The differences where; the image, fonts, colours and cover lines. The photos of Nicole and Hamish have been cropped and positioned accurately to create the right outcome. I have added the logo of "Passion" throughout the front cover, contents page and double page spread. Originally the magazine contained page numbers but this got taken off as it didn't become relevant.
