Question 6 :What have you learnt about technologies etc

Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies during the process of creating your media coursework?
Prior to the start of this project I had minute understanding of the technology we were going to use. The main images I took were taken from a Canon. Taking the images and uploading them wasn't a challenge as I've taken photography - this was simple.
I used Photoshop to put together my front cover and contents page. I found this software to be the one I gained most my knowledge in. I spent a lot of time re doing my front cover as it was never up to scratch

- Digital cameras: I used the digital camera in many ways such as different angles and different shot types. The use of the digital camera was to provide images for my front cover, contents page and double page spread.

- Photoshop: I used Photoshop by taking the image I took from the digital camera and uploading it onto my desktop; from there I edited it to make the image fit with the genre but to also make the image look better and more professional.

-InDesign: InDesign was the hardest software to use but after a while I got used to it. Personally I wouldn't use this software again as I didn't find it useful nor did I gain a greater page/image from it. I used InDesign to create my double page spread. I used an image of my brother as the background and then used the pencil to put dots around him; this was to have the writing around him instead of overlapping him - this made it look professional.

-Blogger: Blogger was a good site to use as it was very easy to use. I was able to add everything onto blogger apart from not being able to add in seperate new blogs to parts in the past. Overall this site helped a lot and was simple to use as its like a social network site.

Emo

Emos tend to stick to wearing black clothes. I think this is because black tends to be a colour that is percieved as dark and evil. The image used for a emo magazine would either have one emo alone or a group put together. It's not hard to tell if someone is an emo or not because they usually wear black all the time, see slits on their wrists or rarely wear other colours apart from black. Unfortunatly their the type of people who don't value their life much due to personal problems or difficulties they can't deal with anymore. Make up for emos can take up to 3 hours! Emos tend to also have a variety of piercings. Some can be perceived in the wrong way. As well as the public finding it disturbing. They normally hang around in a group as they all try to help each other with difficulties/or to share the same problems. This is because they can't stand feeling a burden to others.

When I first started editing my magazine I made this. After a few adjustments I completed it by using a logo but also more cover lines and a better use of drop shadows

Final front cover:

The effect the logo has is to make the magazine stand out. It also gives the magazine a specific identity.
